ABOUT ME: Alex Hines is a comedian, writer, creative, teaching and voice over artist.
After obtaining her Diploma of ASCA Alex worked for youth theatre company Shake & Stir in Brisbane, running masterclasses, incursions and after school drama programs. Since moving to Melbourne Alex has continued to run drama classes as part of the Riverina School Drama Program. As a 2019 recipient of the Ian Potter Cultural Fund, Alex was flown to LA to train in improv, stand up comedy and sketch writing at The Groundlings, UCB and Second City.In 2021 she was awarded Best Work by an Emerging Artist, New Zealand Touring Award and Best Feminist Work, as well as being nominated for Best Work in the Festival (Melbourne Fringe 2021). Alex was cast in Canadian animated sketch comedy series Night Drives. Alex played the titular role in Melbourne TV series Dee-Brief (Channel 10). A RAW Comedy state finalist, Alex debuted her solo comic career with a sold-out season at The Melbourne International Comedy Festival, and was nominated for Best Comedy in the 2018 Melbourne Fringe Festival for Queenz. Along with extensive film and theatre credits, Alex has voiced multiple roles in two seasons of ABC podcast The Fitzroy Diaries.
